The Emirates Library has a rich and specialized collection of books, manuscripts, and periodicals and is an integral part of the Center's program of study & reearch, to which public access is assured.
Books encompass both general and specialized subjects, to include general reference books covering a wide spectrum of subjects in Africa, America, Asia and Europe; specialized sections earmarked as Emirates, GCC, Gulf, Iran, Iraq and Oman containing an impressive range of books focusing on Arab and Islamic Studies; biographical references, atlases, dictionaries and encyclopedias; antiquarian and rare books in Arabic, Dutch, English, French, German, Persian and Portuguese; and photocopies of Arabic manuscripts, old and rare Arabic books about Islam, the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), genealogies of Imams and the Sultans of Oman.
Periodicals Section
The periodicals section houses local daily newspapers (Arabic and English), as well as Arabic and foreign magazines and journals procured from different parts of the Arab World, in accordance with the needs of the different archives. There is also a collection of old Arabic and foreign periodicals. The daily newspapers are bound in monthly volumes, which are categorized and numbered for the convenience of researchers. The Emirates Library has approximately 500 periodicals acquired either electronically or as hard copies through subscription, donation or through exchange programs.
